Go For Two: NFL Week 10 Games To Watch

Week 10! I feel like the season is going by so fast!

Week 9 had some interesting games. That does not mean that they were necessarily good games, just interesting.

First off, to the San Francisco 49ers ...

BRANDON FRAISER

You guys got beat by the St. Louis Rams -- couldn't have happened to a more deserving team of douchebags. Kaepernick walked off the field like he wanted to kill someone for not simply allowing his team win. What a pompous tool.

4-4. God, I love it.

As for the rest of the week, meh. Nothing really stood out.

Monday Night Football?

Brad Pitt SEven Bored

Absolutely boring. ... again. They really, really need to do something about that. They need to start flexing the Monday night football games.

There was the fact that San Diego got their asses handed to them, which is always exciting.

Then there was the game of the week, Denver versus New England. That ended up being so one sided I turned the game off. I didn't want to see my beloved Peyton Manning lose in that fashion. It was hard to watch.

That's about it for week 9. A bit lack luster.

Now for week 10.

Go For Two: NFL week 3 games I'll be watching

There were a lot of intriguing games from week 2, games like the Chargers and the Hawks, the Niners and the Bears, the Browns and the Saints.

What are the games you should be paying attention to in week 3?

I'll let you in on the scoop of some of the games I'll be watching.

First and foremost, I will highlight:

Fantasy Scoreboard 2014: Week 1

I woke up Sunday like it was Christmas morning. Much like Christmas, I spent the day in a drunken haze except this time I was at ye olde college bar instead of my parents’ house and with my best girlfriends instead of my parents. There was also a bit of flirting with potentially underage men, but we don’t need to go into too much detail about that.

Because it’s a college bar in a college town, there was a wide variety of teams represented and a lot of yelling that made it difficult to distinguish between what was happening on the various TVs, especially during the 11 (eleven!!!) early games. Luckily things quieted down during the afternoon games and I was able to focus completely on the Cowboys game…. at least until the frantically ordered bourbon set in. That said, here are the winners and losers in the fantasy world this past week, at least as viewed through my post-Christmas headache. Yikes.

NFL Preview: NFC North

Last season was interesting for the NFC North. Aaron Rodgers was hurt in week 9. Oh joy for the Lions and the Bears! Still, no benefit to the Vikings, they are just shit.

The 2013 Lions were 7-5, having just beat the Packers in week 13. Their future looked bright. I mean, seriously. Rodgers is out, and with 4 games left, and one against the Vikings, they had the NFC North in the bag, right?

Wrong.

The Lions lost all four of their last games.

What will 2014 bring?

Let's start with my favorite team.

Things that made me happy about this week: Megatron, Megatron, Megatron. Things that didn't make me happy: Cowboys, Cowboys, Cowboys. I did manage to beat one of our top players in my fun league this week, even after starting Michael '-0.7' Vick at QB, so that's pretty alright. Studs, duds, surprises and a really long rant about Dez Bryant below.

Go For Two: Water Cooler Topics For Thanksgiving Day

Image courtesy of letsplayballtickets.comThanksgiving football ... such a time honored tradition. A tradition that is the most relevant in Detroit, which has hosted a turkey day game since 1934 (with a small gap between 1939-1944).

I grew up in Detroit. I, strangely enough, have fond memories of driving to Pontiac on Thanksgiving to meet friends tailgating OUTSIDE in the parking lots surrounding the Pontiac Silverdome. I would have on a huge winter coat, thick gloves, and a scarf wrapped around not only my neck, but my chin too. I would chat with my friends and see my breath in the air. Then the best part. Someone would open their trunk, pull out a card table, and place a steaming hot turkey on it. I would pull out a sweet potato casserole, and other friends would pull out a list of side dishes that would make your mouth water.

Eating was always a challenge in and of itself. You had the option of trying to eat with gloved fingers, or as some dare-devil friend would try and do, pull off their gloves and try to eat their food before their fingers froze off in the bitter cold.

We would then pack it all up and head off to the stadium. Bellies full, excited to get out of the cold, and pumped to see a football game on Thanksgiving Day. Bonded together from navigating eating turkey in Michigan's frigid winter air, we sometimes grab onto each other -- trying not to slip on ice as we walked toward the Silverdome.

Ah. Then comfortably in our seats, with the best part of the experience behind us, we would then focus on the other time honored tradition of Lions football on Thanksgiving -- the Lions losing.

Now that I live in San Francisco, I won't be able to participate in the tailgating part of the tradition, but I will be able to experience the second part of the Lions Turkey Day tradition. From my comfy chair in my tiny San Francisco apartment, I'll be able to watch the Lions lose their holiday football game.

Houston versus the Lions? Oh, man. This Thanksgiving for the Lions is gonna be ugly.

The football game you might actually want to watch is ...

Go For Two: Water Cooler Topics For Week 10

These are the games I will be watching, plus one that you can watch, if you want, but I won't ...

I want the Lions to win, but just this once.

Lions at Vikings 1:00PM ET

Lions are 4-4 and the Vikings are 5-4 in the NFC North. This is the toughest division in the NFL. Both teams have seen each other countless times before. There is bad blood. The Vikings, once the darlings of the NFC North, have lost their last two. There are many questioning this team right now. The Lions, on the other hand, have won their last two. Yet, they don't seem to have the same consistency of last year. Plus, too many come from behind, fourth quarter wins. The Lions need to gain consistency and play well in all four quarters of the game if they want to win this game.

More importantly, the Packers are 6-3. I know ... I'm supposed to be reporting on the Lions at Vikings game, but I can't help myself. I need the Lions to win so that the Vikings don't go 6-4. Yet, if the Lions win then they will be inching closer and closer to my Acme Packers. Yikes is the NFC North a tough division. But I can worry about the Lions later. Right now, GO LIONS.
