Fantasy Scoreboard 2014: Week 6

Guys, it’s been a hot minute. I apologize for being MIA on the blog for a few weeks, but I have lots to say today. First of all, I live in Arizona now. My life the past 10 days has consisted of a lot of this:

Pools + puppy snuggles = my life now

Pools + puppy snuggles = my life now

Also, I’m spending more time with my dad since he lives here and this is definitely not going to bode well for my football-spectator skills. As you might have gathered from previous posts, Papa SumSum has been a Steelers fan his whole life. Literally within an hour of arriving in Phoenix, my dad was telling me how after the Steelers lost to the Bucs, he took all his Steelers gear to Goodwill because he was over them. True story.

Did you know games come on 3 hours earlier here? IT’S FUCKING AMAZING. Night games are over by 9pm. This is literally going to change my life when the Cowboys play MNF in a few weeks.

Enough ramblings from me. I have plenty more to say, but you can read about it in this week’s Rants & Raves. Without further ado, here’s the best and worst fantasy moments from this past week.

Go For Two: Dolphins versus Falcons

What's the game of the week! Hmmm. Who should I pick to highlight .... ?

Uhh .... no one?

Week 3's games are yawn producing. Giants versus Panthers? Meh. Rams versus Cowboys? Meh. Browns versus Vikings? Double meh.

I'm trying to be a better blogger, and not just pick the Packers versus Bengals because the Packers are my team. Although, they may be one of the only competitive games between two potenial playoff contenders.

However, the game of the week is the 2-0 Miami Dolphins versus the 1-1 Atlanta Falcons.

Here's why I am picking it as the game of the week.

Go For Two: Playoffs! NFC Championship Game.

San Francisco at Atlanta Sunday 3:00PM ET

If you're not already excited about this game, there is no hope for you. Everyone wrote-off Atlanta, even this gal. But, some how, some way -- they got it done. Yet, that statement will be the focus of many questions going into this game for Atlanta. Why can't Atlanta get it done sooner in a game? Why is it always down to the wire? Why do the Falcons let teams creep back in?

Atlanta better have an answer to those questions this week. San Francisco was on fire during the entire regular season, but now? They are going nuclear. I know it first hand, I'm a Green Bay fan. Colin Kaepernick was clearly the right direction to go in for San Francisco. No hindsight needed. Green Bay could've beat Alex Smith. But Colin? Clearly not. Green Bay couldn't keep their heads on straight against Frank Gore, a hot passing game, plus Colin Kaepernick running all over us. The biggest insult? Oh, just a 56 yard run by Kaepernick for a TD.

We were actually doing pretty well until a muffed punt and Rodgers throwing an interception. Atlanta needs to keep the turnovers at zero. They need to keep Colin Kaepernick in the pocket and make him throw instead of run. The Falcons need to play an entire game, and not take a nap during the third quarter.

Good luck Atlanta. I hope you win.

Go For Two: Water Cooler Topics For Week 15

There are a lot of good games this week. It's coming down to the wire. I can't wait for some of these games. This is the time of the year I wish I had 4 televisions so I could watch all the games.

I'm pumped!

49ers (9-3-1) at Patriots (10-3) 8:20PM ET ** Game of the Week

Again, the Patriots are in the game of the week. Hmm. Interesting. The 49ers are still way up there on the best of the best in the NFC. However, with how they looked twice against the Rams, there is cause for concern. Then there are the Patriots. Man do they look good. They look fired up. They look ready for the playoffs to begin. It will be interesting to see how Brady and the Patriots do against the 49ers defense and vice versa. I'm excited for this game.

I want the Lions to win, but just this once.

Lions at Vikings 1:00PM ET

Lions are 4-4 and the Vikings are 5-4 in the NFC North. This is the toughest division in the NFL. Both teams have seen each other countless times before. There is bad blood. The Vikings, once the darlings of the NFC North, have lost their last two. There are many questioning this team right now. The Lions, on the other hand, have won their last two. Yet, they don't seem to have the same consistency of last year. Plus, too many come from behind, fourth quarter wins. The Lions need to gain consistency and play well in all four quarters of the game if they want to win this game.

More importantly, the Packers are 6-3. I know ... I'm supposed to be reporting on the Lions at Vikings game, but I can't help myself. I need the Lions to win so that the Vikings don't go 6-4. Yet, if the Lions win then they will be inching closer and closer to my Acme Packers. Yikes is the NFC North a tough division. But I can worry about the Lions later. Right now, GO LIONS.
